Apple Will free Patent License for Nano-SIM

Some time ago, we had reported earlier about the Nano-SIM is ready to replace Micro-Sim card.

Today the relevant sources, also reported that Apple has been preoccupied with other companies especially Nokia regarding the design of nano-SIM, the next generation of SIM karty design that will be drastically smaller than the current micro-SIM. Both companies have proposed the design of nano-SIM version of those who claim to be better.

So far Apple's design is most popular among European operators and there is a chance that Apple is the one that will be chosen in the end. This causes some concern that Apple will control the license and for other companies to pay royalties to use it.

However, thanks to recent discoveries by Florian Mueller of FOSS patent, it has been revealed that Apple would offer a license for the nano-SIM patent royalties free. This means that if the design will be selected, then the other companies do not have to pay anything for Apple to use their patent on the design of nano-SIM in their devices.
