Apple Wins Patent Fight the Slide to Unlock Motorola

Apple noted important victory against Motorola in the German court. Of the various disputed patents of both companies, Apple won a German court-related patent slide to unlock, to unlock the phone features a touch screen of the locked state.

In theory, Apple could propose ban on the sale of Motorola gadgets that it violates patents. Patent number EP1964022 corresponding slide is unlocked where the user simply shifts an area, the phone can be activated.

However, Motorola plans to appeal. They also claimed to have had different methods of unlocking phones that can be directly implemented in gadgetnya so they would not violate the patent in question.

"Motorola has implemented a new design for the feature. So we expect no impact on our sales in the future," declared a spokesman for Motorola.

But this victory was considered quite meaningful to Apple in other war-related legal slide to unlock feature. In the U.S., Apple has sued Samsung smartphone Galaxy Nexus for the same features.

"This is a very significant victory for Apple against Android. After Google completed acquisition of Motorola's Mobility, Apple-Motorola dispute will be more important than the global legal battle against Samsung," said Florian Mueller patent experts, as reported by TechRadar.
